If you need a pharmacist for drug regimen or to answer a medication question requiring research, an ApoThera pharmacist will respond personally within one business day.
Many seniors have complex medication regimens, often prescribed by non-coordinating physicians. An ApoThera pharmacist makes every effort to reduce polypharmacy; reduce the number of medications without doing harm; ensures that patients' medications are the most appropriate, the most effective, the safest possible and used correctly; identify, resolve and prevent medication related problems that may interfere with the goals of therapy.
Our consults are individualized and documented in writing. Our recommendations must be reviewed and approved by the prescribing physician(s) before making any changes in drug regimen.
We do not fill prescriptions as any part of this service.
ApoThera provides the following two types of services:

Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and Drug Regimen Review (DRR)

Comprehensive evaluation for correct dosage, potential harmful side-effects and contraindications.
Drug Utilization Review (DUR) for potential duplication of therapies and decreasing complications caused by misuse of medications.
Drug Identification for patients.
Offering expert advice about changing drug therapy to the prescriber that will reduce the medication costs by:
a) changing a brand name medication to a generic.
b) changing from a brand name to a similar but less expensive brand name or generic.
c) discontinuing medications or reducing doses when appropriate.
Cost:  This service is available to HealthVault users in California, Nevada, Washington and Ohio for a fee of 59 dollars per Drug Regimen Review.

Drug Information Question Requiring Research.
Providing information to nature of prescription, over the counter and natural medicines. pharmacotherapy
Individualized answer for specific drug questions requiring some extensive research for which your physicians or dispensing pharmacists do not have sufficient time.
Cost:  This service is available for minimum fee of 89 dollars.

Are ApoThera pharmaceutical consultations covered by insurance?
No, ApoThera is unable to file a claim for pharmaceutical consultation services with insurance company including Medicare. A receipt for services rendered is provided by ApoThera, and e-mailed to you approximately 3 days following the completion of the consultation. The receipt may be used by you should your seek reimbursement from an employer-sponsored medical saving account.

Can I check on the status of my pharmaceutical consultation request?
You will be notified via e-mail when your pharmaceutical consultation is ready. Then, you may log on to your HealthVault account and read the written consult.

Is the ApoThera pharmaceutical consultation available in every state?
We offer consults to patients whose mailing address is in California, Nevada, Washington and Ohio.

Our staff will need to communicate with you via e-mail for notifying the status and providing a receipt for the consult.
